In case of a power outage, we have a gallon of drinking water and flashlights in the cupboard by the dishwasher that is labeled “safety supplies”. Power outages aren’t common, but do happen during storm season. If there is a storm predicted it is recommended to fill the bath-tub with water so you can still use the toilet. It is also a good idea to fill containers with drinking water and stock up on food that doesn’t need to be cooked. A frozen container of water helps keep the fridge cool during a power outage.
